Hello, Lovine.com | Photo | 2020 | 0701 Eastern Sierras
The Third Annual Eastsiders are back at their natural habitat, escaping the urban apocalypse. Featuring the return of the G-zuki (also known as Shitzuki), we managed to cram our entire family into the most trusty of miniature mountain donkeys and met the rest of the crew at the official "Unnamed Lake Beneath Kavanaugh Ridge".
Getting up into home base was quite the adventure, when sleepy co-pilot misread a junction and dove us into the rough side of the mountain for a very rough 1am detour. Not that we haven't offroaded in such an ungodly hour before, but it was definitely unexpected - which was apparently the theme for the next 24 hours.
We were all warm and cozy in our new tent while the stars roared overhead - until we got jolted by the spasms of an unconscious 5 year old, who proceeded to vomit all over Kat's jacket, my face, and into my sleeping bag. At 2:30am. Looks like the elevation wasn't doing anyone favors. We were quite worried at daybreak when he seemed very lethargic, but of course took all of 5 minutes to warm up to a beautiful forest, an alpine lake, and Estella to adventure off with.
Meanwhile, I lost consciousness shortly in the afternoon because the 10,500 ft air incubated a massive migraine. Always hydrate, homies.
