Hello, Lovine.com | Photo | 2010 | Balls of Steel - Portland to LA
- We took a no-nonsense route back south to SF and LA, trying not to get fired from our respective jobs. The plan was to take the 5 south down to Grant's Pass, shoot west on CA-199 and then straight down through the 101.
The numbers are in. I clocked 2,613 miles in an 8 day period (SF to WA to OR to SF to LA). Longest day I can verify is 430ish miles on the first night heading down the stretch of 101 (http://goo.gl/maps/NLBc). Spent $113.36 in gas, for an average cost of about 4 cents per mile.
Only major problem was a nail in my tire that necessitated replacement, and an unwavering sense of adventure that might never be quenched from its thirst.
Those who wander far away from home, know it a lot better when they return.
